In theory I'm not a fan of spin-offs of TV shows I love. It's 'cause I'm loyal to the original show.
I'm talking about "true spin-offs" which are spin-offs that take established characters from one TV series and give them their own show (as opposed to "engineered spin-offs" which are spin-offs that introduce a character to one show just so that that character can anchor a new show e.g. the character Horatio Caine appeared on one episode of CSI before the premiere of CSI:Miami)
I loved Friends and I think the final episode would've been better if there was no Joey spin off in the works and I was right when I thought Joey wouldn't be worth watching (sorry Matt LeBlanc).
And when I heard there was going to be a Grey's Anatomy spin-off I was sad. They were going to mess with the dynamic I love! The interaction of the characters is one of the main draws of that show and this season when Addison has been taken out of the picture I feel the show has suffered. (Then there's the loss of Burke, but that's a whole other issue...)
But inevitably I watch the spin-off, mostly out of the same loyalty to the original show.... and also because of the curiosity factor. From what I've heard from a friend who has seen some of Private Practice I'm going to like it, but at what cost?! I enjoy Grey's less with Addison removed!
And then to confuse things further I remember how much I loved Fraiser, a spin-off! And I didn't watch Cheers so there's no loyalty clouding my feelings...

My blog...
So I've started a blog, but I'm not really sure how it all works yet.
I'm playing around with it to work it all out.
I'm trying to change it all to purple....
So I'm gonna keep playing with it and see how I go.
It's fun so far!
Hope someone reads it (other than me!)
