I thought this would be fun and interesting to look at objects and their relationship to their owner. I think it is interesting to think about the things we keep with us and why we do so. Why are we attracted to the objects we buy? Is there a sentimental reason we keep things? Are we even aware of the reasons?
So here are 5 things from my handbag that speak about my life (or are just quirky and interesting)
- My tiny umbrella
It's the purple one on the bottom left, naturally.
- Deodorant & Travel Toothbrush
Specifically Rexona Crystal Clear Aqua (the kind that doesn't leave white marks)
- Painkillers, Migraine Stick & Other Drugs (LEGAL Drugs!)

- So Many Hair Bands...
- & Prescriptions
I also have lipglosses, keys, make-up, mobile phone, a brush, my wallet, many pens, and sooo many receipts and misc. pieces of paper etc, etc...
Also, if I'm out somewhere with Chris you might find his wallet, mobile phone and keys in there too. I spoke to a single friend about this recently, the conversation started when I noticed her very cute, very tiny little handbag. I mentioned that I had to have a practical sized handbag because it has to be able to contain all my stuff and Chris' stuff and she said she understood as she had bought the cute little handbag after comming out of a relationship...
And why do I need to keep all these things with me?
- Umbrella - obviously incase it rains. But also because it's purple and little and cute and I love it.
- Rexona & Toothbrush - so I can freshen up, if need be. I hate the thought that I might be getting smelly, so I never let it happen! Not that I think I'm a smelly person, but that idea that you can't smell your own odours freaks me out! I only buy the kind that don't leave white marks too. And the toothbrush comes from when I had braces in High School (not that it's the same toothbrush as I hd then, yuck!). Basically, when you've got braces it's easy to get food caught in them and I was always paranoid about that. When the braces came off the paranoia didn't go away so I still carry a travel toothbrush with me just incase I need it...

Painkillers, Migraine Stick & Other Legal Drugs - I almost have a pharmacy in my purse! I have the painkillers (ibuprofen and panadol) as I have a bad back (disc bulges on my spine & neck) and I get alot of headaches, hence the migraine stick! I find it helps to get rid of my headaches or migraines (often I have to combine it with the drugs for the full effect though). I also have The Pill, antacids and sometimes cold & flu tablets and nasal spray in there.
- The Hairbands (or hair elastics) - I just had my hair cut short so these might not get as much use, but I often wear my hair out that get hot, or annoyed with it and throw it into a ponytail to get it out of my way and off my neck. At the moment I have this little tube of hairbands, which is really cool 'cause they're not scattered all through my bag or around the handle of my brush. I always get black hairbands 'cause they go with anything and I like the kind with no metal parts 'cause they're better for your hair (which is great for me 'cause when it's long I keep it in a ponytail constantly).
- Prescriptions - (see above for Legal Drugs!). I'm always losing my prescriptions so I keep them with me in my bag (in one of those handy side compartments). Then when I need to get something I don' have to search all around the house for the prescription. Although I might want to rethink this 'cause when I get to the chemist I pull them all out to find the right one and the girl at the counter looks at me like I have a drug problem... (which I don't!).
So... Who will I tag? (in no particular order)
- Heather from Dooce
- Danielle from Three Girls and a Boy
- Michelle from JustImagine
- Zoë from FruityBeauty
- And Sparsely Kate
Let me know when you've posted yours!
So here's how it works - Of course there's rules, there's always rules.
~ Link to the person who tagged you.
~ Post the rules on your blog.
~ Write 5 Things in your handbag that say YOU .
~ Tag three people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.
~ Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.
~ Let your tagger know when your entry is up.
(~ For the sake of brevity we'll allow multiples)
Obviously this can be extended to blokes if you know a man with a man-bag/backpack.
And it all started here.
* This post is driving me crazy. Not the content, being tagged hasn't driven me crazy, but the formatting of this post. I'm a bit of a perfectionist with my posts sometimes and I can't get this one to do what I want and I've had enough! So it can stay like this. The End.
